games

hollow knight

i was originally scared to play this because i heard it was hard & i thought it would frustrate me. for some reason i thought i didn't like metroidvania games, which is silly because i've definitely played & enjoyed metroidvanias before. thankfully it's not difficult in a getting-stuck way; just dying over and over again :)

you are some guy

this little game is actually what finally convinced me to make this page. i was really impressed with how much was conveyed in such a simple game. i think each character's personality and relationships came across really well, and the looping nature of the game + the limitations/simplicity of the engine work well for the story.

secret little haven

this game was all i did for two days straight. you play as alex, a trans girl figuring herself out through fandom and chatrooms in the 90s. i'm not a trans girl, nor was i alive in the 90s, but i felt like i've been alex. the messages between alex and her friends have such a specific tone that feels the same as how i texted with my friends when i was younger. [forgot if i have more to say]

peak

i actually haven't played this in a bit. i'm not very good at it either but if anyone wants to play with me my steam friend code is 914900662

spiritfarer

a game about grief that i stopped playing because i was getting close to the end and didn't want to confront the finality of finishing the game

celeste

very good combination of difficult and forgiving. i'm not good at games but i managed to beat the game just by trying over & over again, which i think was really good for my gaming emotional resiliance or something.

stardew valley

i love to farm

also i made a mod: customize clothing gender

the sims 4

mostly like to build in this game. unfortunately i use linux so it takes like 20 minutes to start. no reason for a triple-A game to behave like that!

super mario bros wonder

i love the whimsy i love how weird it is. it feels special to me because it's the first traditional mario game released while i've been sentient (the wii U one doesn't count). i've been working on 100%-ing it & am almost done but got sidetracked by hollow knight.

animal crossing: new horizons

i think this game is most fun when you really get into like... playing. you have to get dressed & get coffee in the morning just like you'd do in real life. it's not meant for speedrunning & i think it's a worse experience if you try to. accept slowness into your heart <3
